The KAB Foundation has established a $2,000 Education Debt Relief Grant to help ease the financial burdens of individuals working in broadcasting at KAB-member stations who are struggling with student loan debt. This program aims to provide monetary assistance, encourage workforce stability, and promote career longevity within our industry.
The grant is available to individuals currently employed at a KAB-member station in Kansas. Eligible employees are encouraged to submit their applications by the specified deadline. Awardees will receive a total of $2,000, disbursed over a two-year period—$1,000 in the first year and $1,000 in the second year. The KAB Foundation will select five new recipients annually.
Additionally, KAB-member employers have the option to further support their employees by making matching donations to the KAB Foundation (KABF). These funds will then be forwarded directly to the institution managing the employee’s loan.
There is no limit to the number of times an individual may apply. Applicants can receive the grant multiple times, provided they meet the program criteria, but they may not receive it more than three times in total. Applications will be reviewed by the KAB Foundation Board of Directors. Any board member whose parent company has an applicant must abstain from the review process.
