Media Knowledge and Training Lunch for the Kansas State Legislature Presented by the Kansas Association of Broadcasters and Kansas Press Association

The Kansas Association of Broadcasters (KAB) and the Kansas Press Association (KPA) are excited to host a joint Media Knowledge and Training for newly elected and returning Kansas legislators. This exclusive event is designed to strengthen legislators' media presence so they may more effectively disseminate information about their projects and legislation, enhance their communication skills, and foster a better understanding of the media landscape.

Led by Local Media Authorities Representing Broadcast: Melissa Brunner, WIBW TV’s news director and anchor Representing Press: Jeff Cott, KPA President and publisher of the Derby Informer

What the Event Offers Legislators will gain insights from seasoned media professionals on topics including:

• Best Practices for Media Interaction: Tips on fostering productive relationships with journalists and broadcasters.
  
  
• On-Camera/Interview Preparation: Guidance on appropriate attire and demeanor for television appearances, as well as radio and press interviews.
  
  
• Handling Challenging Questions: Techniques to respond effectively, even under pressure.

The event will conclude with an off-the-record Q&A session, allowing legislators to ask candid questions and address specific concerns in a confidential and supportive environment.
