Master Control Operator/Director

KAKE Operations has an immediate opening for a Master Control Operator/Director position.  This position is part of KAKE’s Master Control & News Production crew and will also serve in other broadcast support capacities as necessary. The work schedule will include nights and weekends.


Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and maintain transmitter levels for FCC compliance.
  • Work with a daily log of events for switching of programming, commercials, promos and live events for broadcast.
  • Monitor and maintain video and audio levels of programming
  • Must be detail oriented in work habits along with being able to adapt quickly to changing demands and circumstances while maintaining programming on air.
  • Must have a good and proficient working knowledge of monitoring video, audio, power and signal levels for transmitters, recorders, servers and receivers.
  • Code and direct any newscast, breaking news or news special.
  • Must have a good and proficient working knowledge of all aspects of newscast production, including studio camera work and audio
  • Consult with and provide input to department related to our on-air look and operation.
  • Must be able to interact with other departments in a professional and detailed manner.
  • Must be available on-call and for vacation and sick leave fill in.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by upper management.


Qualifications: 


College education or equivalent training in broadcasting or an allied field is preferred.  KAKE will provide training for the right candidate.

Good eyesight and hearing is required, in addition to the ability to climb stairs, sit, or stand for long periods of time, and must have good manual and overall physical dexterity.

Must be able to interact with people in a positive and respectful manner under stressful situations, as well as handle often stressful situations under deadline.

  • Strong computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft products as well as the ability to type at least 25 words per minute required.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and quickly navigate technical issues a plus.
