KAKE News has an immediate opening for an experienced, enterprising Senior Reporter. The successful candidate will have big shoes to fill. This team has a history of producing award-winning and policy-changing content.


PRIMARY DUTIES:

Enterprise, develop, write and present content as assigned for newscasts, specials. special projects on any platform.

Research and produce in-depth, original, or long-form investigative stories, often using FOIA requests and data-driven reporting.

Provide guidance, feedback, and editorial leadership to junior reporters.

Aggressively Pursue Breaking News

Perform active live shots in the field or studio as assigned

Look for points of difference in storytelling

Support and champion the KAKE News Brand

Be able to post video and stories on web and mobile platforms

Drive and operate station vehicles

Travel long distances in the execution of assigned duties

Be available on-call as assigned

Ability to shoot & edit stories a plus


QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

At least 7 years’ experience as a reporter

College degree in broadcast journalism

Ability to work independently with excellent editorial judgment

Deep understanding of journalistic ethics, media law, and accuracy

Aggressive and competitive qualities with an overriding sense of good journalism, and fair reporting

Have a valid driver’s license
